Friends of Seminole State Forest hold a super event for EcoRover Chairs

Friends of Seminole State Forest made history today when they held their annual Run for the Woods on Super Bowl Sunday.  Director of the NPO, George Koutsakis and President of EcoRover Chairs, Cordell Jeter collaborated since early last year to bring EcoRover Chairs to the event so eleven people with limitations in mobility could enjoy this great forest run along with the other participants.  In fact, George Koutsakis (pictured handing out a medal) is bringing EcoRover Chairs to Seminole State Forest as a permanent venue.

Prior to the forest run, Friends of Seminole State Forest acquired one EcoRover Chair along with an event support trailer.  The NPO’s intention is to use proceeds from the event to acquire more EcoRover Chairs so Seminole State Forest will be able to offer ongoing accessibility and adaptive recreations to all its visitors.  This is a wonderful and historic accomplishment for the state of Florida.

George was influenced by the very successful Staunton State Park Track-Chair Program in Colorado.  Now he successfully brings the concept to Florida, with the collaboration of Cordell Jeter and EcoRover Chairs.  Wow!  Eager to share his success with other parks and forests, George said after the event “The template is in place, the formula works.”  Congratulations to George Koutsakis and Cordell Jeter.  History was made and humanity was served on February 12, 2023 in Seminole State Forest.
