First Track Chair Disc Golf Shot, Plant City, FL

As far as we know, the first track chair disc golf shot was taken by Eddie Hall on June 21, 2022, in Edward Medard Park, a Hillsborough County Park located in Plant City, FL. (pic 1) Eddie Hall was paralyzed 50 years ago due to an auto accident at the age of eight. He worked at Publix Supermarkets 26 years and Home Depot 13 years to present.  Eddie has served on many council and chair positions that advocates for persons with disabilities.  And now he is the managing director of Expedite Life, a public service company that promotes adaptive recreation in central Florida.

Thomas Griffin joined Eddie in Plant City for the round of disc golf.  They played at other parks including Loyce E. Harpe Park, a Polk County Park located in Bartow, FL on August 20, 2022. (pics 4-9)

The collaborative efforts of Eddie and Thomas formed an organization, Track Chair Disc Golf Association www.trackdga.org that encourages cities and counties to modify disc golf courses so EcoRover Chairs can be used for play.  If fact, Eddie was successful in having Lake Parker Park Disc Golf Course modified so an EcoRover Chair could play.  The City of Lakeland agreed and removed a 360-degree barrier around the fourth hole, (see pic 10).

Eddie made that first shot taken on June 21, 2022, and the rest is history.  Congratulations Eddie Hall, a fantastic contribution to adaptive sports that will bring many great days of track chair disc golf to families and loved ones that have limitations in mobility.
